Prep Time10 mins
Course: Beverage

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Water
  • 4 nos Medium sized okra pods
  • 1/8 tsp salt optional
  • 1/8 tsp pepper optional

Instructions

  • Start by thoroughly washing 4 medium-sized okra pods under running water to remove any dirt or impurities.
  • Cut off both ends of each okra pod, and then slice them in half lengthwise. Alternatively, use a knife to pierce the pods on each side. This allows the water to absorb more of the beneficial compounds from the okra.
  • Place the sliced okra pods in a cup filled with 240 ml of water, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the cup and let the okra soak for at least 8 hours. For a more potent infusion, extend the soaking time to 24 hours.
  • After soaking, gently squeeze the okra pods to release any remaining sap into the water. This step maximizes the extraction of nutrients and beneficial compounds. Discard the pods once this step is complete.
  • Pour the nutrient-rich okra water into a glass. If desired, season the drink with 1/8 teaspoon of salt and 1/8 teaspoon of pepper to enhance the flavor. Enjoy this refreshing beverage as part of your daily routine.
