Home remedies for body rash include baking powder, olive oil or cod liver oil, toothpaste, oatmeal, chamomile tea, calcium water, aloe vera, blanch nettle leaves, basil and mint Leaves, bread slice, almond oil, potato and oatmeal, vitamin C rich diet etc. Skin is the largest organ in our body and may manifest various disorders in the form of this change. Not only this, allergies are often caused due to genetic parameter of an individual which make him or her susceptible to different substances. These on touching can lead to body rashes. Body rashes are a group of spots that can be characterized by reddened, warm, painful skin at the site of inflammation. A number of home remedies are available that may treat and effectively give relief from pain.
Body rash or skin rash is characterized by change in skin’s natural texture, colour and appearance. According to University of Virginia Health System, body rash may be the result of various physiological conditions within the body. Usually when body rash appears due to contact of clothes, chemicals, jewellery, drugs, cosmetics, detergents, soaps or perfumes; it is allergic in nature and hereditary factors are involved in the manifestation of rashes over the skin. However, other factors like cold weather, tuberculosis, measles, leprosy, streptococcal infections and many other disorders may as well be involved in contributing to skin rash. If this kind of skin inflammation is persistent, one should not delay and consult a dermatologist.
Body rash can be easily identified by appearance. Some of the symptoms of the same are mentioned below-
- Redness
- Warm
- Pain
- Rough in texture or bumps
- Itching in the affected site
- Burning sensation
- Dry skin
- Skin is scaly and sheds during winters
For mild conditions a number of home remedies. However, if associated with a disorder, it is advisable to follow the remedial measures as per the guidelines of that specific disease for treating body rashes. Some of the home remedies are listed below-
- Baking Powder: One can apply baking powder to the affected area. It is an easy remedy to combat skin rash.
- Olive Oil or Cod Liver Oil: It is also observed that massaging slightly with either of the olive or cod liver oil for few days, after the appearance of skin rash is also effective way.
- Toothpaste: One of the most easily available home remedy is toothpaste that can be applied to the rash area. As it contains mint, it gives coolness and reduces itching and pain.
- Oatmeal: Take a cup of raw oatmeal and pour it in the bathing water to soak for a little while. This is used to take bath and gives relief to patients with skin rash.
- Chamomile Tea: Tea made up of chamomile can be used to wash the affected area to obtain relief.
- Calcium Water: A cloth can be soaked for sometime in a vessel containing calcium dissolved in water. This cloth can then be applied on the reddened area.
- Aloe Vera: Take a leaf of aloe vera and sqeez it so that the pulp comes out. This pulpy gel can be applied over the area hhaving rashes. It is a very effective way of treating rashes.
- Blanch Nettle Leaves: According to Bio-medicine, Urtica commonly known as blanch or ‘bichubuti’ in hindi can be used for treating relief in skin rash. The leaves can be smeared on the rashes using cotton balls. They have been found to be effective in nappy rashes in baby as well.
- Basil and Mint Leaves: Basil and Mint, both are known for there cooling effects. The leaves of either of the two can be applied on the rashes.
• Bread Slice: Take a slice of bread and warm it slightly. This can now be kept over the affected site to obtain relief. - Almond Oil: A smear of almond oil can also be applied and kept for sometime over the rashes.
- Potato and Oatmeal: Potato is known for its healing and good dermatological properties. Finely chopped potato and a cup of oatmeal can be added to a tub of water. This is stirred properly. Individuals suffering from chicken pox can wash there rashes using this water to obtain relief and treatment.
- Vitamin C Rich Diet: A Vitamin C diet is also helpful in making the skin healthy. Hence it is advisable to consume citrus fruits to keep the skin glowing and rash free.
Other then these remedial measures, one should always be cautious about the things they are contacting and must avoid those, to which they are allergic. Use of expired products must not be done strictly. People who are skin sensitive must avoid exposure to sunlight.
